These are Caster Correction Bushes made by SuperPro, the bushes are off set and will give around 2.5 degrees of caster, once fitted correctly they rotate the axle back to a more standard position after a suspension lift.

What is Caster Correction?
Once a suspension lift has been fitted the front axle rotates slightly forward giving the impression, we like to describe as “walking on your tip toes” or in this case driving. Because of this, it can cause the steering to feel vague or wander, the steering can’t self-centralise as easily. The bigger the suspension lift the worse these problems can be.
By Caster Correcting, this rotates the front axle back to more of a standard position, for example, instead of walking on your tip toes you are now walking with your feet flat on the ground again giving a better steering feel and easier to self-centralise.
Standard Defender caster measurement should be around +3degree with no suspension lift.
For every 1 inch of suspension lift it takes around 1.5degree off the caster angle.

When do I need Caster Correct?
Suspension Lifts 40mm or above can cause poor steering feel, caster correction will help this.
Suspension lifts under 40mm can mostly get away without Caster Correction.

Do I need Caster Correct for off road use?
There is no advantage of castor correcting for trials, challenges or Off-Road use, it lowers the Track Rod Bar making less ground clearance and steepens propshaft angles. Castor correcting helps for speed events as it self-centralises the steering and improves the steering feel.

Caster Correction disadvantage
Steepens propshaft angels – By caster correcting it rotates the front axle backwards meaning the diff flange is closer to the ground. Because of the steepened propshaft angle, this can cause propshaft vibrations which then can be solved by fitting a Double Cardan propshaft.
This is why you should never over caster correct due to propshaft problems.

Should I castor correct?
If the steering feels ok then do not caster correct.
If the steering feels bad then yes caster correction will help the steering, which then can cause propshaft vibrations, we can supply a Double Cardan propshaft to hide these vibrations. Vibrations after caster correction are normally felt at 50mph when you back off the throttle when there is no drive and everything is loose, it causes everything in the transfer box to sound like it is jumping around like a loose bag of spanners.

There are 2 types of arms, NARROW 38mm and WIDE 45mm, to check this you measure the very front of the arms, NARROW arms are normally fitted to early Defenders.

These polyurethane bushes from SuperPro are considered to be the best aftermarket bushings available for Land Rovers. The “OEM” and “G” bushings do not match up to the same quality as the original Production Line Genuine bushes that were used when the Defender was still in production. Nowadays, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find high-quality Genuine bushes. That is why we are using SuperPro bushings as the best available alternative
