OME 3063 Front Springs, 65mm to 75mm lift
These springs will give a big lift on the front, mainly used on the front of a Challenge Truck, which has a big twin motor winch and tubular wings, adding extra weight.
These are a good medium-long, flexible coil spring for the front. On a standard Defender, they will give a lift of around 65mm to 75mm, (315mm to 325mm Coil Height). These coil springs will flex well with long travel suspension. They will provide a lift of around 3 inches without being a harsh ride. If the vehicle has extra weight, such as a winch, the springs will compress to nearer a 2.5 inch lift.
These springs are mainly fitted to off road challenge cars due to the high suspension lift they provide.
These springs are 39.4N/mm, this means for every 39.4kg added weight, the coil spring will compress by 10mm, this is for 1 coil spring only. On a car, you will divide by 2, so 10mm will become 5mm.
For improved road handling and steering responsiveness, caster correction may be necessary due to the increased height that these springs will provide. This will increase the angle of the front propshaft, so a Double Cardan Front propshaft may be required to reduce vibrations.
Here at Gwyn Lewis 4×4, we sell Old Man Emu Springs to match the shock absorbers for our Suspension kits.
We stock and sell a wide range of Old Man Emu springs to suit a vehicle’s needs. – Please see here for all Old Man Emu Springs – Spring Information
The spring holds the vehicle up, they determine your ride height, shocks travel and length determines your axle travel (articulation off road), longer shocks mean more axle movement.
Old Man Emu Springs were mainly designed for load carrying. This is how a suspension lift will be given, if Old Man Emu springs are used; however, from the wide range we can pick and choose springs to suit the vehicle’s weight and the customer’s preferred ride height.
It is useful to know the vehicle’s current ride height to help determine which springs are needed. This is how you can measure your suspension lift the Gwyn Lewis 4×4 way.
