The advantage of the relocation kit is that it allows you to move the steering damper from the track rod (rear bar) to the drag link (Front Bar), which is in front of the axle. The original damper is fitted to the track rod bar behind the axle, where it can easily get caught or bent.
This clamp on mount is designed to fit a Defender EYE/PIN style steering damper to either a Discovery 1 or RRC. We would recommend using a Defender sterring damper if you are after more steering lock as the Defender steering damper has 9 1/2 inch travel (this only applies if you are going to adjust the steering stops to increase the turning circle with small tyres for trialling), whereas the original Disco1/RRC steering damper, Pin/Pin fixing only has 8 1/4 inch of travel.

PLEASE NOTE :- This kit can only be fitted to a Discovery 1 / Range Rover Classic that is fitted with the later Straight Drop Arm that uses our longer SUMO-830 Drag link Bar.
This kit CANNOT be fitted with the earlier Swan Neck Drop Arm with press in ball joint that uses our shorter SUMO-740 Drag Link Bar.
A Defender Eye/Pin Steering Damper is too long to fit with the early Swan Neck Drop Arm and shorter Drag Link, you will not get full steering lock turning to the Passenger side.
The GL79 is designed for our Sumobar range, fitting our Heavy Duty Sumobar and our Stainless Steel Sumobar. Will fit all heavy duty bars measuring from 29mm to 32mm.
